Our corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy is at the heart of our business – so it is always essential that this is part of our long-term focus surrounding people, communities and the environment. To help make a significant difference within our communities, a charity committee has been organised with the sole purpose of raising money for our three nominated charities – The Ben Parker Trust Fund, Treetops Hospice and Padley Group.
The Ben Parker Trust Fund (Ben’s Den) is an Ilkeston-based charity set up in 2004 in honour of Ben Parker – who lost his brave battle with leukaemia in November 2003 at the age of 13. Bens Den aims to provide free holidays for families with children diagnosed with cancer and leukaemia.
Derbyshire-based Treetops Hospice provides nursing care and emotional support for adults and their families across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. This includes day care services, therapeutic services and home visits, ensuring continued access to care for those with a range of conditions as well as people in need of end of life support.
Padley Group, is a Derby charity offering support to the most vulnerable people within the local community. This is achieved through its homeless centre called The Homeless Hub as well as The Development Centre – a training unit operating courses for those with learning and physical disabilities, as well as those with autism and/or mental health issues.
As a company, we are implementing several initiatives this year in order to raise vital funds for all three, with initial ideas including cake days, quiz nights and utilising our annual golf day. Cheques will be presented to each charity in December once all funds have been successfully raised.
