East Midlands, UK [15 May 2008] Ilkeston-based Fairgrove Homes has much to be proud of following a flying start to 2008. In the first quarter of the year, it scored highly in customer satisfaction surveys and reported strong growth, with unit sales for the year to date up on previous years.
But the company’s success means it must continue to plan for the future by searching for even more land on which to build its broad selection of homes designed for families, professionals and executives.
“We’ve been bucking industry trends by continuing to build high-quality homes in some of the most sought-after locations in the East Midlands, and our search for even more prime locations continues,” says James Midgley, assistant land buyer with Fairgrove Homes. “Our market research has revealed a strong demand for new homes across Derbyshire, with particularly strong demand focused on NE Derbyshire and Chesterfield.
The company is looking throughout the NE Derbyshire and Chesterfield areas for land measuring between 0.5 and 2.0 acres – although larger sites will also be considered. “The government has already made it clear that it would like to increase the amount of housing available in Derbyshire, and we have earmarked NE Derbyshire and Chesterfield as ripe for development,” says James.
“A large number of families and young professionals are now choosing to set up home in these two areas, so we are looking for a variety of land types to help turn their dream into a reality.”
He explains: “Because of the mixed requirements of our clients, we are on the lookout for both rural and urban locations in the NE Derbyshire and Chesterfield areas. These could take the form of land on which there are existing disused buildings, or they could be very large back gardens that could be transformed into delightful new homes targeted at the region’s large professional market.
“Many people aren’t aware that if they have land measuring 0.5 acres upwards, they have an asset which they could capitalise on. Some people are considering reducing their monthly outgoings or releasing equity in their houses. By selling part of their back garden they could achieve these results. And of course, it is better for people to have some control over a development by selling their land.”
Selling your garden could be a major decision, but Fairgrove has a policy of working with landowners to create a sympathetic development. “We are happy to provide a free valuation to landowners,” says James. “We have a flexible approach, and aim to incorporate as many original features as possible in the design of properties. We also ensure that fencing, boundary walls and private roads are in keeping with the original property.”
