Fairgrove heralds top partners
East Midlands, [17 April 07] In a year that saw Fairgrove Homes increase its sales by 50%, the East Midlands-based new homes firm had much to celebrate at its annual supplier of the year awards, held at Derbyshire County Cricket Club.
The awards – established to recognise excellence in all areas of the new homes business – were broadened this year to include all the players who have helped make Fairgrove’s business such an overwhelming success.
Every month for the past year, Fairgrove has given each of its suppliers marks for reliability, communication, quality of goods, service, evidence of exceeding expectations, as well as quality of administration. “Recognising that we work with a diverse mix of people who need to be assessed slightly differently, we categorised all of our suppliers as either sub-contractors, suppliers or professional advisors,” says Steve Midgley, managing director of Fairgrove.
“We’ve established some great relationships with all our suppliers, and prefer to think of them as partners in delivering the Fairgrove success story,” adds Steve. “There was stiff competition in each category. And once again we’ve enjoyed the services of some world-class people to ensure that our homes are built on time and to the high specifications expected by our clients. Our sub-contractors, suppliers and professional advisors have all gone above and beyond the call of duty at various times in the year to ensure tight deadlines could be met and high levels of quality could be maintained.”
The awards were presented by former international footballer Steve Daley during a specially arranged four-course dinner at Derbyshire County Cricket Club. During the evening, Daley also gave a rousing speech on the highs and lows of his career, which included a record-breaking transfer fee when he signed for Manchester City in 1979.
“It’s been a smashing evening,” said Steve as he announced the winners. In the sub-contractor of the year category, Richard Jackson of Trentham Holdings Electrical once again scooped first prize. Mick Tipper and Nick Redgate of R&T Plumbing and Heating, who were in last year’s top five, scored an excellent second place; and Chris Mitchell of Munster Joinery took third prize.
Edward and Daniel Holder of Soar Valley Timber Midlands stormed home with the suppliers award. And Wendy Atkins of Ubiquitous Media secured the professional advisor award.
“There were less than five percentage points between the top five suppliers, who consistently scored high marks throughout the year,” says Steve. “While some other suppliers peaked in individual months, these maintained their standards throughout the year. Several years ago, while struggling with different suppliers, we would not have believed that it was possible for complicated trades such as plumbers and electricians to score so highly, but we have been proved wrong. Trentham Holdings Electrical, R&T Plumbing and Heating, Munster Joinery and Soar Valley Timber have shown true dedication in working to get jobs finished, even when challenging weather and building supply delays have held up progress. And in our new category of professional advisor of the year, Wendy Atkins has shown that she is a safe pair of hands for all our media activities.”
