Fairgrove picks another good cause

East Midlands, [05 April 06] East Midlands new homes developer Fairgrove Homes has announced its support for a new local charity for the next two years.

After looking at several worthy, local charities, the East Midlands-based firm has settled on the County Air Ambulance Trust. “It’s an important charity that does so much good work throughout the region,” explains Steve Midgley, managing director of Fairgrove Homes. “We chose the charity because it’s an unfortunate fact of life that accidents and emergencies do happen – but how serious they are depends largely on how quickly emergency services can respond. If you’re talking about head or spinal injuries, speed is essential – and you need to get the victim to hospital within the ‘golden hour’ – within 60 minutes of the accident happening. Anyone who has travelled on our region’s roads at rush hour will know just how difficult it is to get anywhere within that time – so the fastest way to hospital is by air.

The air ambulance service is funded by charitable donations. “When you consider that a typical air ambulance costs over £1 million a year to run, this charity really needs the support of businesses like Fairgrove,” says Steve.

“The air ambulance does so much good work throughout the region,” Steve adds. “It’s the kind of service that any one of us could need at any time, so we’re very happy to be supporting it.”
