Fairgrove Homes takes to the fairway
11 April 05
Now that spring is in the air it seems like a perfect opportunity to dust down those golf clubs before heading into the country for a round or two. But that’s not enough of a challenge for a group of local business people, who have already upped the stakes by pledging to raise more than £2,000 for charity.
Fairgrove Homes’ annual charity golf tournament has attracted interest from businesses and golf enthusiasts throughout the region – and this year the Ilkeston-based property developer hopes to raise even more money for its nominated good cause, Rainbows Children’s Hospice. “Each year, we invite local golf enthusiasts and business people to dig deep in their pockets to raise money for a regional charity,” says Steve Midgley, managing director of Fairgrove Homes. “We’ve decided to continue to support Rainbows because they do so much fantastic work with local youngsters. We’ve been impressed with the positive impact they have on families facing difficult circumstances across the region. As we have developments throughout Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire – the target counties for Rainbows – this provides us with a perfect opportunity to put something back into the communities in which we work.”
Local businesses have already rushed to sign up to the event, with Jackson Building Centres and Arnold Laver Timberworld among those announcing they will be fielding teams.
This year’s event will be held at Morley Hayes Golf Club, Derbyshire, on 11 May, from 1:00pm. This is a team of four event, but individuals are welcome and will be allocated to a team. A dinner and a presentation of prizes – donated by Fairgrove Homes – will be held at the club from 7:30pm. Tickets for the whole day are £45 per head.
Anyone interested in entering the competition should contact: Barbara Wheeldon at Fairgrove Homes, on 0115 944 6700 or email barbarawheeldon@fairgrove.co.uk.
