Fairgrove awards premier suppliers

Plumbers, electricians, builders and roofers from the East Midlands donned their best clothes for the second Fairgrove Homes Supplier of the Year Awards during March. The awards – established last year – were set up to recognise excellence in all areas of the new homes business.

“Unfortunately, many builders, plumbers, electricians and roofers seem to have a reputation for poor service and delays. But when you’re in the home-build industry, you rely on the quality, dedication and team work of all your suppliers to achieve tight deadlines and ensure your clients can move into the home of their dreams on time,” says Steve Midgley, managing director, Fairgrove Homes. “Luckily, we’ve managed to source some really high quality suppliers – and this has helped us achieve deadlines and keep our clients happy throughout the year.”

Every month for the past year, Fairgrove has given each of its suppliers marks for reliability, communication, quality of goods and service, as well as quality of administration.

It was a closely fought competition, and this year’s finalists were: Leicestershire-based plumbing contractor A M Norris Ltd, Burton firm R & T Plumbing & Heating, and three Notts-based companies – Bracknell Roofing Co Ltd, Newport Decorators, and electrical firm Trentham Holdings.

During a specially arranged three-course dinner at Derbyshire County Cricket Club, which included an after-dinner speech by Dickie Bird, the former international cricket umpire, the top three companies were presented with their awards.

Trentham Holdings scooped the top prize; Bracknell Roofing came a close second and AM Norris took third.
