Sutton plaque marks commitment to quality
Ilkeston, Derbyshire, and Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, [21 July 2005] Ilkeston-based property developer Fairgrove Homes is committed to quality – and that’s official. Following a successful conversion of the historic Dobson’s Mill in Sutton-in-Ashfield into 18 luxury family homes, Fairgrove Homes has received a major accolade from Ashfield District Council.
The award of a plaque – presented by Council officials during a glittering ceremony – was given to Fairgrove in recognition of its design achievements and is known as the Ashfield Design Award.
This week, Fairgrove Homes unveiled the plaque at the Dobson’s Mill development. “We’re delighted to unveil this plaque as it represents a major achievement for the new homes industry in general and Fairgrove in particular,” says Steve Midgley, managing director of Fairgrove Homes. “All too often, developers are accused of riding roughshod over the feelings of local people when building or converting new homes. We think this is the wrong way to build relationships with the communities we work in, so we worked closely with planners as well as representatives of the local heritage society to ensure we produced a development that reflected the history of the local community while providing home buyers with quality, modern homes. It was a tough task – but with good communication and teamwork between our company as well as with the architects and planners, we believe we have developed something that North Notts can feel proud of.”
The unveiling of the plaque comes at a time when Fairgrove is renewing its commitment to the North Notts region with a development of 31 flats and houses in Eakring Road, Mansfield. “This is a different type of development from Dobson’s Mill,” explains Steve. “But we are targeting the homes at a similar market of young professionals and families. With this in mind, we’ve built properties that continue our commitment to quality and individuality.”
