Fairgrove clubs together to support local children
1st April 2004
Kind-hearted staff and business associates of Ilkeston-based Fairgrove Homes are busily practising their stroke in preparation for the company’s first charity golf tournament, to be held at Morley Hayes golf course, Derbyshire, on 25th May 2004.
The event will see staff, suppliers and sub-contractors pitting their skills against each other in an attempt to raise much-needed funds for the Rainbows Children’s Hospice based in Loughborough. The charity, which provides valuable respite, palliative and terminal care to families who have a child with a life-limiting illness, relies heavily on donations to raise the £1.6 million required each year to run the hospice. “We chose the Rainbows Children’s Hospice because we’re keen to support charities that provide a better quality of life to children in the East Midlands,” comments Steve Midgley, Managing Director, Fairgrove Homes. “Based close to Fairgrove’s developments at Sutton Bonington and Olders Valley, the hospice provides us with a perfect opportunity to put something back into the communities in which we work. We intend to support the Rainbows Children’s Hospice, which helps families from the East Midlands and South Yorkshire, for the rest of the year starting from the golf tournament.”
The tournament, which is open to members of the public as well as Fairgrove’s associates, begins at 12:30pm. A dinner and presentation of prizes – donated by Fairgrove Homes – will be held at the club from 7:30pm. Participants will be charged £45 per head for the day. “All proceeds will go directly to Rainbows Children’s Hospice after we have paid for the use of Morley Hayes,” says Steve Midgley. “We’re also hoping to raise a substantial amount via a raffle of luxury prizes.”
