Charity begins at home
5th August 2004
Charity is certainly beginning at home for some East Midlands residents now that Ilkeston-based property developer Fairgrove Homes has launched an initiative to give even more money to its chosen good cause for 2004.
Every purchaser of a new Fairgrove Home is being given a one-year subscription to Rainbows Children’s Hospice’s lottery. And, with weekly draws of prizes from £5 to £1000, there’s a good chance to win cash and help charity. “We wanted to be part of an initiative that would raise the profile of Rainbows at all our developments while showing that we really appreciate our customers,” says Steve Midgley, Managing Director of Fairgrove Homes. “The lottery provides a perfect opportunity to give money to a very worthy cause. It makes people aware of the valuable work carried out by Rainbows and it gives us a chance to thank our customers for buying one of our homes.”
New home owners at Fairgrove’s developments at Meadow Croft and Dobson’s Mill, Sutton in Ashfield, Notts have so far been given a lottery subscription and are already reaping the rewards of the competition. “In Rainbows’ draw on 30th June, two residents from our Meadow Croft development scooped prizes,” says Steve. “With further new developments opening up in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire later this year, we expect to be giving even more subscriptions away before Christmas.”
“Rainbows Children's Hospice needs £1.6 million each year in order to provide the care for the 250 families who currently use the hospice,” says Stephanie Garnett, Lottery Manager, Rainbows Children’s Hospice. “We only receive 6% funding from the government and we rely very heavily on the community and fundraising activities for the remaining 94%. The Rainbows Lottery will provide a regular income and allow us to plan for the future, confident in the knowledge that we have a guaranteed source of income. It is a way for people to support us and have the chance to win something back. We’re grateful for all the help we get from businesses such as Fairgrove Homes.”
