East Midlands businesses tee off for children
Ilkeston, UK – [May 27th 2004] Take 80 business people, mixed golfing skills and a very worthy charity – and you’ve got the ingredients for a top golf day. On May 25th 2004, East Midlands-based property developer Fairgrove Homes did just that, with the result being a big cheque for Rainbows Children’s Hospice.
“Although some teams had mixed fortunes on the golf course, we had a very successful day overall,” reports Steve Midgley, Managing Director of Fairgrove Homes. “We’d like to thank all the players, whose generosity in purchasing raffle tickets, lottery tickets and green fees throughout the day enabled us to present a cheque for £2280 to the charity.
“Rainbows Children’s Hospice provides valuable respite, palliative and terminal care to families who have a child with a life-limiting illness and we are pleased to be associated with the charity. Based close to Fairgrove’s developments at Sutton Bonington and Olders Valley, the hospice provides us with a perfect opportunity to put something back into the communities in which we work. We intend to support the hospice, which helps families from throughout the East Midlands and South Yorkshire, for the rest of the year starting from the golf tournament.”
Speaking after being presented with the cheque, Jo Plant, Appeals Manager, Rainbows Children’s Hospice, said: “It’s an honour to be invited to the golf day. As a children’s hospice for the whole of the East Midlands, we rely on the generosity of local businesses like Fairgrove Homes to help the children in our care. Since we were established in 1994, we have helped more than 1,000 people. We receive only 6% government funding, so the help that Fairgrove Homes gives in terms of support and donations is essential for our ongoing survival.”
Companies represented at the event included: Beechdale Saab, Miles and Cash Solicitors, Eaton Independent Financial Services, Firth Roofing, Streeter West, RA Cowen Insurance, Sanders Menswear, Pilkington McPhee Architects, Thermalite, Mortgage Force, American Standard Bathrooms, Lafarge, Jacksons Building Centres, Bank of Scotland, Belvoir Holdings, Nottingham Property Services, PJ Sealants, NatWest, Contract Appliances and Catnic Lintels.
