East Midlands, [date to be added] Ilkeston-based Fairgrove Developments has issued a call for local people to get involved in the proposed development in Cinderhill. The company, which is submitting alternative plans for the site, wants to involve as many local people as possible in the project. “We firmly believe that the long-term success of the Cinderhill development requires input from all local stakeholders,” explains Steve Midgley, managing director of Fairgrove Developments. “Because of this, we have teamed up with architect John Thompson & Partners to consult with local people to ensure the development is sustainable and benefits them.”
A Community Planning Weekend will be held on Friday 29 February and Saturday 1st March at John Flamsteed School, to give all local people a chance to have their say in the future of their community through a number of interactive workshops. The outcomes from the weekend will be reported back at a meeting to be held at 7pm on Tuesday 4 March also at John Flamsteed School.
“We chose John Thompson & Partners for this project because they have significant experience in delivering a consensus-led approach to projects,” says Steve. “We believe that the long-term interests of this project are best served by having an open and honest process that brings as many locals on board as possible.
During the course of the Community planning Weekend, locals will have a chance to participate in topic workshops and hands-on planning groups and explore the issues and opportunities for the future to ensure it is sustainable, environmentally sensitive and improves the quality of life of the local community.
Joynes Pike and Associates a local firm of Consulting Engineers, who has been looking into the technical issues relating to this site including the tarpits, mineral workings, drainage and highways will also be present during the Community Planning Weekend to listen to local perspectives.
