Fairgrove honours MINI artists with maximum talent

East Midlands, [15 April 08] Nottingham is a hotbed of artistic talent, according to Simon Midgley, marketing executive at Fairgrove Homes, following the presentation of prizes in Fairgrove’s first-ever community art competition.

The competition encouraged school children in the city to let their imaginations run wild and design a MINI in their own choice of colours and styles. It was open to three different age groups: those aged 3-5, youngsters of 6-8 and children of 9-11. “The competition was close in every age category and the judges had a really tough time trying to decide on the winner.” says Simon. “It was great to see so much innovation in designs across all the age groups, and the winning ones have now been turned into a unique radio-controlled model MINI that each winner can keep.”

Fairgrove decided to hold the competition after its own Fairgrove-themed MINIs received so much attention in the local area during 2006 and 2007. “Naturally, our MINIs reflect our new homes developments,” says Simon. “However, we were interested to find out what local children would put on a MINI if they had a free hand.”

The competition was organised from Fairgrove’s show home in Piccadilly, off Highbury Vale, Nottingham. Children from local schools including Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Catholic School and Heathfield Primary School were among those who entered.

The winner of the 3-5 age category was Georgina Stevens from Our Lady’s. The 6-8 age group was won by Megan, a pupil at Heathfield Primary, and Daisy Williams from Our Lady’s took the prize in the 9-11 category. In addition to winning a radio-controlled MINI with their own design, each child won £200 for their school.

“We were pleased that local schools gave their backing to the competition, as they are an important part of the local communities we work in,” says Simon. “One of the reasons why Fairgrove is currently building off Highbury Vale is the high calibre of schools in the area, making it a desirable location for potential home buyers.”
