East Midlands, [11 March 2008] In a year that has seen Fairgrove Homes start work on exciting new developments in Loscoe, Derbyshire and Piccadilly, Nottingham, the Ilkeston-based new homes firm had plenty to celebrate at its annual supplier of the year awards, held at Derby Conference Centre in February.

Every month for the past year, Fairgrove has given each of its suppliers marks for reliability, communication, and quality of goods, administration and service, as well as evidence of exceeding expectations. “Recognising that we work with a diverse mix of people who need to be assessed slightly differently, we categorised all of our suppliers as either sub-contractors, suppliers, professional advisors or labour,” says Steve Midgley, managing director of Fairgrove.

“Once again there was stiff competition in many of the categories, thanks to the excellent work carried out by so many of our suppliers.” says Steve. “Because Fairgrove’s business is expanding rapidly, we’ve welcomed many new players to the fold over the past 12 months. However, to keep the marking fair, only those who have been supplying services and products for more than eight months are eligible to be considered for an award. We’ve been impressed with the quality of service provided by many of our new suppliers, who are helping to take Fairgrove to the next level, and we expect even stiffer competition for all of the awards next year.”

In the sub-contactors’ category, first prize went to R Jackson Electrical Contractors for the second year. The top supplier for the second year running was Soar Valley Timber. Jeff Smith scooped the premier award in the labour category, while Ubiquitous Media repeated last year’s success to take home the top prize in the professional suppliers category.

“Fairgrove is pleased to be working with so many consistently excellent suppliers,” says Steve. “The fact that two of these categories have been won by the same firms as last yearhighlights their commitment to the Fairgrove ethos of high-quality, unique new homes.”

He adds: “The new homes industry faces an interesting future because of pressures in the wider housing and banking sectors. However, Fairgrove is really pleased to report that although footfall to our show homes is down on previous years, visitors are extremely positive and recognise the quality of our new homes resulting in encouraging sales so far this year. The ongoing commitment of our suppliers to high-quality work that is delivered on time is what marks us out from our competitors. Thanks to the team we have in place, I am optimistic for the year ahead.”

Winners of the awards were presented with their prizes by Mark Eccleston, the tetraplegic athlete who has captained the Great Britain team in two world championships and the 1996 paralympic games.
